At about 6:30 A.M. I travelled about 20 minutes on Possum Kingdom lake to reach the state park area of a lake. When I had been to that side recently to fish, This spot had became my favorite fishing hole. The creek is lined with gravel and rock so I can practically see everything in the water. It is absolutely the most peaceful place I can think of.   It was about 55 degrees outside with no wind with an overcast. I came to this creek today not to fish but to travel up the creek and experience the beauty that had surrounded me. I took into account all of the little things that made this creek such a beautiful destination whether it was the clarity of the water, the types of trees, the size of the rocks, the different animals I happened to see, as well as the perfect weather. While each of these thing on their own are beautiful, they all seemed to point to the bigger picture. I turned my boat motor off well before entering the creek so I would not di...

Anger management is something we all joke about whenever we get mad. But what happens when a sudden burst of rage overcomes you and all you an see is red? The blood is tingling through your veins, you cant really see straight but at the same time you are pinned up focused on the trigger. This was the case for Jason, a man who would be diagnosed with Interment Explosive Disorder, an impulse control disorder that is described as "explosive outbursts of anger and violence". Jason hurt a man one day when he started to talk bad about his family. Though one could say this guy had it coming for him, Jason's rage almost ended the man's life and in that had to go to counseling in order to learn to control his anger. This blog is to express the thanks to the psychologist who changed this mans life and is the reason he can still live an everyday life and not have to live behind bars.      Jason could not remember the ladies name who helped him through his time...

White Collar and Blue Collar are common terms to describe financial success of a man and his family. White Collar being associated with having wealth because the common wealthy man would wear a suit to work and a blue collar which is associated with the working class because the color of the common man’s workwear involves a blue collared work shirt. This story is about how a man from a white collar background and a woman from a blue collar background are able to help one another out although the way they were raised were so much different. Dan was born into money; his dad is a very successful Oil man in North Texas who had no short access of money. The business has multiple gulf shore oil rigs. This money put lenses on Dan’s eyes on how he perceived the world. To him money could solve all problems and those without it were inferior. This was the thought even though this man had been struggling with alcoholism since the time he was 13, his wi...

Week 8- Memory reflection

M4-Memory

I asked the participants the two series of words how many words from each list that they could remember. The average between the two was about 7 words from each. When I asked if all of these were correct 1 out of the 2 had gotten a couple of the words wrong. This is due to each set of words being in the same categories. the Second participant stated "I figured it was all medical stuff so it had there had to be doctor on there" while the other did not. It didn't really strike him until I showed them the video where a woman wrongly accused a man of rape but in her head believed she was 100% straight. She had also said that while the man was raping her she tried to focus on any detail she could in order to find this man. This is how the wrong man was convicted due to the fact that the men had the same facial features. The same way one of the participants input the word doctor because he had no more true answers and had to recollect on the features of the lis...

M3 task- getting to know me

After having to look back and see who in my life had influenced me into who I am, I found it very interesting that these were the 4 people who came up. My dad and grandpa were of to no surprise but as for my high school coach and one of my best friends, it is humbling as well as crazy to think that I never would have thought that my friend and coach would have had such an impact on me.      The present was of to no surprise and these 2 attributes are the reason I'm at Hardin Simmons in the first place. I'm Just really happy it is what i thought it would be and more important the effect it has on me is everything i could as for.      Until I saw my past in detail, it gave me a clear view of how my future can pan out as well as the deciding factors on the reason I want to become a Football coach as well as a mentor to younger kids.

Realities from addiction as an addict

https://youtu.be/Ayg9-QFj04o       I chose to do addiction and how it effects the brain and body. In this case I got first hand experience of how it effects on of my friends who has been dipping tobacco, which contains nicotine ,for about 5 years. In this I asked him about symptoms that come from dipping as well as symptoms of when he tried to quit. It's insane how average this is among many of my friends as well as people I see in everyday life. In the interview you can see that the symptoms that come with this are real and do have an effect on everyday life. It is hard for this man to quit because when he does his mood changes as well as his ability to function. This may not seem that crazy about just one individual when you realize that there are many people who have been and are affected by nicotine, it is easy to understand why it is so hard to stop.  Not to mention research suggests that those who have a tendency to use nicotine are more likely to de...
