REFLECTION BLOG

Week One’s blog shared who I am in a cultural sense as well as the people who shaped me. My friends and my family. It explains my hobbies as well as what type of person I am and want to be. Psychology is a pretty interesting subject. Especially sports psychology because I can use It in my career I’m choosing to pursue. By using psychology and personal behaviors my favorite coach ever, Jimmy Johnson, was able to motivate players in specific ways special to each player and is what I believe led them to 3 Super Bowls. In this week’s blog I tried to sum up 2 functions of the brain, how it behaves and grows and how it perceives the world around us. It talks about how the brains risky thought behaviors tend to peak at puberty due to grey matter being at an all-time high in the brain and gradually declining over our lives.        At about 6:30 A.M. I travelled about 20 minutes on Possum Kingdom lake to reach the state park area of a lake. When I had been to that side recently to fish, This spot had became my favorite fishing hole. The creek is lined with gravel and rock so I can practically see everything in the water. I took into account all of the little things that made this creek such a beautiful destination whether it was the clarity of the water, the types of trees, the size of the rocks, the different animals I happened to see, as well as the perfect weather. While each of these thing on their own are beautiful, they all seemed to point to the bigger picture. I turned my boat motor off well before entering the creek so I would not di...

Anger management is something we all joke about whenever we get mad. But what happens when a sudden burst of rage overcomes you and all you an see is red? The blood is tingling through your veins, you cant really see straight but at the same time you are pinned up focused on the trigger. This was the case for Jason, a man who would be diagnosed with Interment Explosive Disorder, an impulse control disorder that is described as "explosive outbursts of anger and violence". Jason hurt a man one day when he started to talk bad about his family. Though one could say this guy had it coming for him, Jason's rage almost ended the man's life and in that had to go to counseling in order to learn to control his anger. This blog is to express the thanks to the psychologist who changed this mans life and is the reason he can still live an everyday life and not have to live behind bars.      Jason could not remember the ladies name who helped him through his time...

White Collar and Blue Collar are common terms to describe financial success of a man and his family. White Collar being associated with having wealth because the common wealthy man would wear a suit to work and a blue collar which is associated with the working class because the color of the common man’s workwear involves a blue collared work shirt. This story is about how a man from a white collar background and a woman from a blue collar background are able to help one another out although the way they were raised were so much different. Dan was born into money; his dad is a very successful Oil man in North Texas who had no short access of money. The business has multiple gulf shore oil rigs. This money put lenses on Dan’s eyes on how he perceived the world. To him money could solve all problems and those without it were inferior. This was the thought even though this man had been struggling with alcoholism since the time he was 13, his wi...
